Priest Vasco Pinto de Magalhães was born in Lisbon in 1941. An engineering student, he was an outstanding rugby player and joined the Society of Jesus in 1965, being ordained a priest in 1974. His career has intertwined university pastoral work and spiritual accompaniment. He is the author of numerous works on spirituality and Christian formation. He occasionally devotes himself to sculpture. 

During the World Youth Days in Portugal in 2023, Priest Vasco Pinto Magalhães presented Pope Francis with his Holy Family as part of the Holy Priest's private visit to the company of Jesus.
